QUALIFICATIONS
Clinical Psychology & Psychological Well-being.
Clinical psychology addresses a number of health issues that arise throughout the lifespan; mental, emotional and behavioural disorders including, but not limited to:
depression, adjustment difficulties, anxiety disorders, trauma, substance abuse/addiction, mood disorders...
The aim is to reduce psychological distress, to alleviate symptoms, & to promote psychological well-being using a treatment plan and therapeutic process tailored to your needs.
Humanist Therapy/Approach.
The focus of humanistic therapy is on our individual capacities to make sense of our world and our experiences. The emphasis is on the principle that everyone has their own way of seeing the world, which in turn impacts our own choices and decisions.
This approach, alone or combined with another psychotherapy, will enable you to develop a strong and healthy sense of yourself, explore your inner feelings, find meaning in your life and refocus your attention on your strengths and goals.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [CBT].
An approach that combines both cognition (our thoughts and experiences) and our behaviour.
The main aim is to help clients understand the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and to take control of these in a progressive and sustainable way. This approach will help you challenge your automatic thoughts and beliefs and enable you to develop practical techniques for shifting or adapting your thought processes and behavioural patterns.
This approach is widely recognised for its effectiveness, particularly in the treatment of disorders such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, but is applied to almost every problematic due to its high efficacy.
Mindfulness Practice.
Through mindfulness, you are observing your inner reality: your thoughts, emotions and sensations, as well as your outer reality: your social and physical conditions, without judgement, which allows you to respond to situations instead of reacting to them.
Mindfulness focuses on increasing awareness of our inner and outer realities that may be hindering progress towards a better state of mind, of peace and well-being. Through mindfulness, you can practice the here-and-now (the present moment) using a variety of techniques and help reduce daily stress and overcome barriers.
